upside down umbrella girl

she's the yellow umbrella blown and broken in the tree
now the bright side's on the inside and it's screaming to be seen
and if you could see it you would smile
just like the yellow umbrella girl; upside down for awhile

she promised she would fight it. she could fight it and she'd win
but it's so lonely when spokes are spread and the rain is on her skin
- pulsing - "is anybody listening"and vibrating through the fall
when she listens there is nothing. life is hiding at her call.

a shy society that vacates her quiet yellow world
awful silence on the inside though she's begging to be heard
and if you could hear her you would smile
just like the yellow umbrella girl: inside out for awhile.

left here, now she's hanging -- yellow stranger in the tree
left for dead or not much better -- an exquisite tragedy
and if you could save her, she would smile
that yellow umbrella girl just needs you for awhile
